The World Bank confirmed support for energy projects in Kyrgyzstan

On January 26, a meeting took place in Bishkek, where the Minister of Energy, Talaybek Ibraev, discussed important aspects of energy projects with the World Bank's Regional Director for Central Asia, Najy Benhassin.

According to the ministry's information, the discussion covered both the current state and future prospects of joint initiatives in the energy sector.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the construction of the Kambaratinskaya HPP-1, which is a key facility for ensuring the country's energy security and the development of Kyrgyzstan's energy sector. The World Bank confirmed its readiness to provide financial support for this project.

Moreover, the implementation of the project will take into account important social and environmental aspects, as well as the requirements of international sustainable development standards.

The program "Regional Integration and Electricity Trade in Central Asia (REMIT)" was also discussed, aimed at developing electrical networks in the Jalal-Abad region, expanding electricity trade in the region, and enhancing the reliability and capacity of Central Asia's energy infrastructure.

As a result of the discussions, the parties expressed their readiness for further constructive cooperation aimed at the sustainable development of the energy sector, the implementation of large infrastructure projects, and the deepening of regional energy cooperation.

The bilateral meeting was attended by: Minister of Energy T. Ibraev, representatives of energy companies, Najy Benhassin - Regional Director of the World Bank for Central Asia, Hugh Riddell - Head of the World Bank Office in Kyrgyzstan, Stephanie Gil-Praktikis - Energy and Mining Manager for the Europe and Central Asia region, as well as other representatives of the World Bank.
