The main topic of discussion was the construction project of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1.
The World Bank confirmed its readiness to continue financing this important project, with an emphasis on environmental and social aspects and compliance with international standards in sustainable development.
Also discussed at the meeting were the following initiatives:
- The project "Regional Integration and Electricity Trade Program in Central Asia (REMIT)"
- The main objective of this project is to strengthen the electrical networks in the Jalal-Abad region, promote regional electricity trade, and enhance the reliability and capacity of energy infrastructure in Central Asia.
- As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to continue open and constructive cooperation to achieve sustainable development in the energy sector, implement major infrastructure projects, and strengthen energy interaction in the region.
The bilateral meeting was attended by Minister of Energy T. Ibraev, representatives of energy companies, as well as Najy Benhassine — the Regional Director of the World Bank for Central Asia, Hugh Riddell — head of the World Bank office in the Kyrgyz Republic, Stephanie Gil-Praktikis - energy and mining sector manager for Europe and Central Asia, and other World Bank staff.
