As part of the events, a book by retired Colonel of the National Security Service Mazalbek Kabaev titled "A Word on the Military Valor of the Red Commander" was presented.
The event was attended by scholars from the National Academy of Sciences, veteran KGB officers, relatives of the author, as well as faculty members, cadets, and listeners of the GKNB Academy, along with conscript soldiers.
Jumabek Asankulov was born on February 20, 1927, in Keper-Aryk, located in the Moscow district of the Chui region. His service in the state security organs began in September 1946 and continued until August 1991. Throughout his career, he rose from an operational officer to the head of the KGB of the Kyrgyz SSR, becoming the first national leader in this field. For his outstanding achievements in ensuring state security, he was awarded numerous state honors. After retiring, Asankulov became one of the founders of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
He headed the KGB of the republic from 1967 to 1978 and again from 1989 to 1991.
Kabaev's book is dedicated to Arstanaly Osmonbekov, the first commander of the Kyrgyz cavalry division, who was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for his combat merits.
The work recounts the heroism of ancestors who served in the ranks of the Red Army from 1918 to 1925. The documentary-biographical essay about the Red Commander holds significant historical importance. The Red Army soldiers fought against banditry, protected the local population, built schools, contributed to the establishment of collective farms, and assisted in the formation of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, which marked the beginning of the path to the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz Republic.
