In the village of Besh-Korgon in the Nookat district of the Osh region, a serious problem has arisen with educational conditions. The secondary school in Besh-Korgon, built by local residents, has been deemed unsafe, and now hundreds of students are forced to leave their homes to receive an education in another village.

The construction of this educational institution began in 2003 when local residents started building on the site of the former chimney building. The school, designed for 125 students, was opened in 2007. However, as early as 2016, the first technical report indicated its unsuitability. In December 2025, plaster fell from the walls in the corridor and the computer room.

In January 2026, experts finally declared the building unfit for use and prepared a demolition act. The inspection revealed that the foundation is settling, the walls are cracking, and the wooden structures are affected by insects and corrosion. The roof is leaking, and the electrical wiring poses a life-threatening hazard. The building is not protected from wind, rain, and temperature fluctuations.

Despite its emergency status, the number of students continues to grow. Today, 311 children are studying at the school, although the designed capacity is only 125 places. This academic year, an additional 61 first-graders have joined them, and more than 50 new students are expected next year. In classrooms where three students sit at a desk, the distance between them is only 30 cm, making it impossible to conduct laboratory work or STEM classes.

The educational institution lacks a gym, an assembly hall, or workshops, so all events are held outdoors. Since January 17, 2025, following the incident with the collapse, classes have been moved to the Kyzyl-Teyit school located in the village of Zhany-Nookat. Students have to travel significant distances: 4 km from the village of Kyzyl-Teyit, 4 km from the village of Aral, and 7 km from the village of Kochkor-Ata.

The issue of the school in Besh-Korgon has been discussed at public kurultays and meetings of the Jogorku Kenesh. A delegation led by Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu visited the school on June 20, 2025, and promised to build a new building. A plot of land measuring 1 hectare has already been allocated for this purpose.

Local residents hope that after ten years of waiting and the official recognition of the old building as unfit for use, the construction of a new, safe school will begin soon.
