It is worth noting that infant mortality in the country has decreased.
Health Minister Kanbek Dosmambetov emphasized that the levels of maternal and child mortality serve as important indicators of the healthcare system's functioning and should be a priority in their work, as it concerns the preservation of the lives of women and newborns.
He characterized the increase in maternal mortality as a "serious signal for making management decisions" and instructed to develop a comprehensive set of necessary measures as soon as possible, within a week. The Minister also noted the need to revise the standards for antenatal care, paying special attention to quality, as well as improving communication between primary healthcare facilities and hospitals, strict routing of pregnant women, especially from at-risk groups, and enhancing telemedicine consultations, including the implementation of prenatal screening.
Prevention of complications, timely hospitalization, and access to qualified medical care should be a priority.Among the main tasks for 2026 is the reduction of maternal and infant mortality.
