Additional infection control measures have been implemented at Manas International Airport. Special equipment has been installed at the facility that measures passengers' body temperature in real-time.

The press service of JSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" informed 24.kg that these measures are aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19 and the Nipah virus, which has been reported in India.

According to the press service, the equipment was purchased for the country's main airport back in 2021, but remains relevant in the context of current epidemiological threats.

If a passenger is found to have a temperature above 37 degrees, the control zone staff immediately contacts the Center for Quarantine and Particularly Dangerous Infections. A decision is then made regarding further actions," the press service clarified.

Passengers showing signs of illness are directed to a specialized center, where necessary tests are conducted and a diagnosis is established. If influenza or cold is detected, the person is released for outpatient treatment; in the case of a more serious virus, instructions from the center are followed.

Additionally, the Kyrgyz Republic has introduced temporary restrictions on the import of animals from India that may carry the Nipah virus, as well as animal products.
