Bishkek may launch city trains: the city hall is studying the issue
Bishkek is considering the possibility of introducing railway transport as an additional option for passenger transportation. This was the topic of discussion at a working meeting organized by the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure.

Under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Ramiz Aliyev, specialists from the relevant department, representatives of the municipal enterprise "Center for Digital Technologies," as well as employees of the passenger transport management of the state enterprise "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu" and the enterprise "Tulpar" discussed the prospects of this project.

Special attention was paid to how the existing railway network could become an effective and fast means of transportation for city residents, especially during peak hours. Meeting participants considered options for integrating railway lines with the existing route network.

Among the proposals was the creation of new bus routes that would connect bus stations and railway stations with residential areas and key points in the city. This would allow for the organization of convenient transfer hubs and reduce the load on roadways.

Aspects of the digitalization of transport services were also discussed: the implementation of GPS monitoring for trains and the display of schedules for both railway and ground transport in real-time in the "My City" application is planned.

As a result of the meeting, the responsible agencies were tasked with thoroughly working out the technical, logistical, and organizational details of the project. The city hall emphasizes that the development of alternative transport will be an important part of the city's sustainable mobility strategy.
