Employees of the Ministry of Education informed parents of future first-graders about the age requirements of the new 12-year educational system.

Olga Bryzgalova, a specialist at the ministry, stated that there will be no significant changes in the 2026/27 school year. Children will be admitted to schools according to their age.

“In the next school year, children who have reached the age of six will go to school. If anyone thinks that a seven-year-old child can immediately enter the second grade, that is not the case. All children will be enrolled in the first grade of the 12-year school. Transfers between grades will be carried out strictly according to established rules,” she noted.

Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor Abakir Mamytov emphasized that the transition to the new educational model will occur gradually and with consideration of all factors. Next year, the focus will be on updating the curricula for third grades, as well as modernizing programs for senior classes.

“The transition in the upcoming school year will be smoother, with updates to the content of the third-grade program. Each year, we will move towards stabilizing the system,” he added.

It will also be important to develop a concept for specialized education, which a special group is currently working on. After its completion, questions and discussions may arise among schools.

It will be an interesting process,” he concluded.
