The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh emphasized that deputies represent the interests of their constituents
In the context of discussing the initiative to extend the training period for obtaining a driver's license to 10 months, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, defended the deputies.
He noted that criticism from the executive branch towards parliamentarians is unacceptable, as deputies represent the people and convey the opinions of their constituents.
“Deputies regularly support the cabinet of ministers and vote for government bills. Therefore, there should be a show of respect from the executive branch towards the parliament,” the speaker added.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu expressed hope that his words would be heard and appropriate conclusions would be drawn.
The speaker's remarks were prompted by criticism from deputy Kunduzbek Suimanov on social media, who had previously opposed increasing the training period in driving schools to 10 months.
Suimanov himself noted in the Jogorku Kenesh that this wave of criticism is backed by the executive branch.
