At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 5, Health Minister Kanybek Dosmambetov reported on the current situation with the Nipah virus.

He noted that the Ministry of Health studied the experience of neighboring countries, such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and developed an appropriate action algorithm.

According to the minister, "We are following the approved algorithm and actively exchanging information with our neighbors. Currently, examinations are being conducted for students who have returned from India. The President has allocated financial resources from his fund for the installation of thermal cameras at airports. At the moment, a thermal camera has been installed only at the 'Manas' airport, but they will soon appear at the airports in Osh, Karakol, and other cities. The situation is under control, and there is no cause for concern. We have already issued an official press release about the Nipah virus, and there is no need to artificially raise panic. This virus is not transmitted by airborne droplets like COVID-19; it requires direct physical contact. Everyone arriving from India is being examined," the minister concluded.
