The Ministry of Health is monitoring students from India due to the Nipah virus

Kanybek Dosmambetov presented information on preventive measures and the installation of thermal imaging cameras at airports during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh

During the session of the Jogorku Kenesh, Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov reported on the implementation of a set of measures in response to the Nipah virus. According to him, a set algorithm of actions is already being implemented in the country.

He noted that students arriving from India are under special control — they are met at the airports and immediately sent for medical examination.

“We are actively studying the approaches of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and exchanging necessary information with them. The situation remains fully under control, and there is no threat to the population,” emphasized Dosmambetov.

In addition, he reported that additional funds have been allocated by presidential decree for the installation of automatic thermal imaging cameras at airports. Currently, such equipment is only available at Manas Airport, but it will soon be installed in Osh, Tamchy, Karakol, and other key airports.

Dosmambetov added that the Nipah virus is not transmitted in the same way as COVID-19, but only through direct contact, so he urged the population not to panic.
