Since the beginning of December last year, plans have been announced to relocate the boarding school for blind and visually impaired children located on Kulatov Street in Bishkek to the village of Chon-Aryk or Tash-Dobo (Vorontsovka). Since then, parents and teachers have been actively opposing this decision.

One mother, sharing her concerns, noted: "We moved to Bishkek specifically so that our child could study at this school. I have other children who attend different educational institutions. If the school is moved, it will be difficult for me to organize trips to all the schools, considering the traffic congestion."

She also added: "Honestly, Vorontsovka is already experiencing difficulties with public transport, and this will complicate the situation even further."

Parents are convinced that relocating the school outside the city will negatively impact the students: "The educational process at our institution includes classes in computer literacy, orientation with a white cane, chess and checkers, vocal training, and foreign languages. These opportunities will be unavailable, and the children will end up in isolation. The bus allocated for transportation will not be able to cover all routes," they assert.

We insist that the decision to relocate the school be canceled and that the institution remain in the city. It is necessary to build a new, modern, and accessible building on the existing site in the interests of the children, teachers, and society as a whole.
