Evgeny Kochetov, holding the position of Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, announced that the ministry will begin to closely monitor musical works by Kazakhstani performers that address the themes of bride kidnapping and forced marriage. This was reported by Tengrinews.kz.

Measures to combat bride kidnapping have intensified in the country; however, songs continue to be released that romanticize such actions. The Deputy Minister noted that the state will take such works into account.

During the discussion of the draft law "On the Prevention of Offenses" in the Mazhilis, the issue of content that may justify bride kidnapping and forced marriage was raised. Deputy Murat Abenov expressed the opinion that some domestic series contain lines that effectively legitimize the abduction of girls.

Kanat Iskakov, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, stated that amendments will be made to the Code of Administrative Offenses as part of the mentioned draft law, introducing liability for the distribution and promotion of offensive content, including profanity. The ministry also noted that they are working with experts and public organizations to ensure alignment of state policy with what is broadcast on screens.

In July 2025, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev approved a law that imposes penalties for bride kidnapping. Additionally, provisions regarding bride kidnapping and forced marriage were included in the draft of the new Constitution.
