At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development, which took place on February 9, deputy Aysara Abdibaeva raised the issue of Kyrgyzstan's self-sufficiency in the production of milk and dairy products.

In response to her question, the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliyev, confirmed that the country largely meets its own needs for dairy products and also exports some of its products to Kazakhstan.

In response, Abdibaeva noted: "Our natural milk is purchased and exported, while we import pasteurized milk for 110 soms, including from Russia. This needs to be addressed."

The Deputy Minister added that Kazakhstan is not interested in raw milk, preferring to buy finished products that are pasteurized to extend their shelf life.

The deputy expressed her outrage, stating: "We don't have real milk, only powder. We, the citizens, drink a powdered product. It is necessary to create a commission to address this issue. If farmers opened a store in Bishkek, the products would sell out quickly. We don't even know what we are consuming. While our eco-friendly milk is being exported," she expressed her dissatisfaction.
