According to Musk, "SpaceX has redirected its efforts towards developing a self-sustaining city on the Moon, as we are confident that this is achievable in less than 10 years. At the same time, creating something similar on Mars will take more than 20 years," he wrote in his message on X.
Musk also emphasized that windows for flights to Mars open every 26 months, and the travel time is about six months. In contrast, trips to the Moon can be organized every 10 days, and the flight takes only two days. However, he added that SpaceX plans to start working on the Mars city project in about five to seven years.
