The richness of Indian tea culture was presented in Bishkek
The tea festival titled "Indian Tea Culture - More Than Just Tea" took place in Bishkek, organized by the Embassy of India in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The main goal of the event was to promote the diverse varieties of Indian tea. India ranks second in the world in tea production, combining a rich cultural tradition with modern technology.

The opening ceremony of the festival began with the lighting of a lamp, a traditional symbol of Indian culture. The event featured a speech by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Kyrgyzstan, Birender Singh Yadav, who noted that tea culture is important not only for India but for the whole world, as this beverage embodies community, cultural continuity, and generosity. According to him, in India, tea is served as a sign of respect and friendliness: it is an integral part of life, whether it is a morning ritual at home, a meeting with friends, or a ceremonial occasion. The ambassador emphasized that the festival is dedicated to the people whose efforts create each cup of tea and serves as a reminder of the need for sustainable development of this tradition.

Tea sommelier Chinmay Badodekar also spoke, sharing secrets of preparing Indian tea, the nuances of brewing, and the influence of spices on the drink's flavor. He noted that offering tea in India is considered a sign of friendship, which adds special significance to tea-drinking in the country.

Before the eyes of the participants, Badodekar demonstrated the preparation process for four types of tea: rich Assam, Darjeeling, nicknamed "tea champagne," Nilgiri with floral notes, and popular masala chai. Everyone had the opportunity to try the presented varieties and enjoy their diversity.

During the breaks between tastings, guests were treated to a cultural program: performances by the folk ensemble "Kauhar" featuring Indian dances, as well as a quiz that allowed participants to learn more about the rich history and traditions of Indian tea. This contributed to a deeper acquaintance with Indian culture and an understanding of the role of tea in the lives of the people.

The festival was not only a tribute to centuries-old traditions but also an important step in strengthening cultural ties between Kyrgyzstan and India, fostering mutual understanding and respect for the values of both nations.
