Ambassador: India will transfer a linear accelerator to the Oncology Center of Kyrgyzstan
A festive reception dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Republic Day of India was held in Bishkek. The event was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Kyrgyzstan, Birender Singh Yadav, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Almaz Imangaziev.

Ambassadors from various countries, representatives of government structures, international organizations, businessmen, and cultural figures gathered at the celebration, as well as many Indians enjoying the rich history of their country.

“This day holds special significance for India, as it was on this day that the Constitution was adopted, which became the foundation of all the country's achievements over the past 77 years,” noted Ambassador Birender Singh Yadav. “On January 26, 1950, India finally freed itself from its colonial past, becoming a sovereign democratic republic, one of the oldest civilizations in the world.”

The ambassador emphasized that despite global instability, India, following the vision of its Prime Minister Modi “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India by 2047), continues to demonstrate sustainable growth, remaining the fastest-growing major economy in the world with a growth rate of over 7%. By the end of 2025, India is projected to be the fourth-largest economy in the world with a nominal GDP of about $4.18 trillion, and by 2030, it is expected to surpass Germany, becoming the third.

According to the ambassador, “India, as the largest democracy, has proven that democratic processes lead to real results, ensuring stability and inclusive development. In recent years, over 250 million people have risen out of poverty. The Prime Minister's vision of engaging everyone and fostering trust among peoples has been fundamental to India's growth. Diversity, as India has shown, can be a powerful tool for democracy.”

India has achieved significant progress in various sectors over the past decade. The country is building the largest digital infrastructure, and the UPI system has become a global leader in digital payments. India ranks first in vaccine production, steel, startups, aviation, as well as in milk and rice production. It fully ensures food security for its population of 1.4 billion people and exports products to many countries.

India is also actively raising the voice of the Global South on the international stage, acting as a reliable partner and friend, ready to assist neighbors in difficult times and ensuring the security of maritime routes,” the ambassador proudly noted.

Birender Singh Yadav emphasized that Indian-Kyrgyz relations have strong historical roots that have developed into a strategic partnership. In 2026, when Kyrgyzstan will chair the SCO, the intensity of cooperation will increase. The ambassador expressed support for Kyrgyzstan's initiatives.

Intensive bilateral exchanges can be seen in the number of delegations visiting India. For example, a group of Kyrgyz soldiers is currently undergoing training in mountain warfare. A delegation of special forces is also planning to participate in the “Khandjar” exercises in India. In early February, a seminar and exhibition dedicated to the defense industry will be held in Bishkek.

“We intend to develop cooperation in new areas, aiming to increase the current trade turnover, which is significantly below potential, and work on a free trade agreement between India and the EAEU,” noted Birender Singh Yadav.

He also reported on the signing of memorandums of understanding for projects aimed at improving the socio-economic situation of the population, including the establishment of an IT laboratory at the Kyrgyz Economic University and the modernization of the Center for General Medical Practice in the Leilek District of the Batken Region.

With joy, Birender Singh Yadav announced that India will replace the cobalt-60 source in the Bhabhatron II device, previously donated to the National Center for Oncology and Hematology, and will also transfer the Siddharth II linear accelerator to enhance Kyrgyzstan's capabilities in treating cancer diseases.

The ambassador thanked the Kyrgyz side for ensuring the safety of the Indian diaspora, especially medical students, noting their contribution to strengthening friendship between the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Almaz Imangaziev emphasized that India is an ally of Kyrgyzstan in striving for a just world order based on international law.

“I sincerely congratulate our Indian friends on Republic Day. India is one of our closest partners, a country that has achieved impressive socio-economic progress in recent years. We rejoice in India's successes and celebrate this important holiday together,” said Almaz Imangaziev, adding that cooperation covers political, economic, educational, and cultural spheres. He also noted the launch of a direct flight from Bishkek to Delhi, which underscores the interest in expanding mutual contacts.

The celebration of the 77th anniversary of Republic Day began on January 26 at the embassy, where students and representatives of the diaspora gathered. The ceremony started with the raising of the Indian flag, and the ambassador congratulated his compatriots by reading the words of Prime Minister Modi, who highlighted the significance of this holiday for national unity. The students expressed their support for his words.

How could we do without Indian music and dance? Their liveliness and emotionality create a special atmosphere at any celebration. In this context, the words from Gregory David Roberts' novel "Shantaram" came to mind: “India is a country where the heart reigns over all,” and that heart was truly felt that evening.
