In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, a screening of the animated film "Beyond" took place, created in collaboration between France, the Czech Republic, and Germany under the direction of director Florence Miailhe. This event was timed to the 63rd anniversary of the signing of the Élysée Treaty and the 7th anniversary of the Aachen Treaty, which laid the foundation for reconciliation and strengthening of partnership between France and Germany.
Before the screening began, representatives of diplomatic missions took the stage. The Deputy Ambassador of Germany, Konstantin Selenti, emphasized that the Élysée Treaty, signed on January 22, 1963, was a landmark event that ended a long-standing enmity between the two nations. He also noted that in 2019, the countries renewed their relationship through the Aachen Treaty, focusing on cultural initiatives and international cooperation.
The cultural attaché of the French embassy, Étienne Lancel, added that it is culture that allows the two states to discuss complex historical topics with respect and openness. He noted that over the past few years, France and Germany have jointly implemented projects in Kyrgyzstan in the fields of art, music, cinema, and education.
After the speeches, the audience was able to see the film "Beyond." The plot revolves around Kiona and Adrien, two children who leave their destroyed village with their families. Along the way, they find themselves alone and continue their journey independently. During their passage through various places, they encounter dangers, as well as manifestations of help and indifference from those around them. This journey becomes a true process of growing up for them, where they learn to make decisions in difficult circumstances that affect their fate.
The animation in the film is executed using glass painting techniques, which gives the frames softness, dynamism, and emotional richness. This visual style enhances the impression of the narrative without distracting from the dialogues and events that drive the plot forward.
The screening took place at the Chingiz Aitmatov Cinema House, and the film was presented in German with Russian subtitles.
