In the rural district of Bagysh, located in the Suzak region, the possibility of changing the names of two villages is being considered. This information was presented by Nursultan Tügoibekov, the head of the rural district, who reported on the request from local residents.

According to Tügoibekov, at a recent public meeting, residents initiated the renaming of the villages Oktyabrskoye and Safarovka, which was recorded in the minutes. He noted: “At meetings with residents, as well as at budget hearings, we have repeatedly received proposals to change the names of these villages. This request has been considered and brought to the session. The villagers proposed to return the historical name to the village Oktyabrskoye, which during the Soviet era was associated with the state farm 'Druzhba', translating it into Kyrgyz as Dostuk. As for Safarovka, local residents suggested a new name — Jaanı-Küch (New Strength). The deputies of the rural council supported this initiative, and now the decision will be sent to the district, then to the region, and then to the Jogorku Kenesh,” he said.

The population of the rural district of Bagysh is 31,884 people.

The process of changing the name of a village includes several stages:

- The initiative may come from local residents, the rural administration, or the local council, and is usually discussed at a public meeting.

- The deputies of the rural council make a decision.

- After that, the rural or city council issues an official resolution and forwards the proposal to a higher level.

- Next, it is considered at the district or regional level.

- The documents are coordinated through the state administrations of the districts and regions.

- Then the proposal is submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, which analyzes the historical, linguistic, and legal aspects.

- After that, the issue is brought to the consideration of the Jogorku Kenesh, where the deputies make a decision in the form of a law or resolution.

- Finally, the documents are submitted to the president, who, if approved, signs the law. The decision comes into force after official publication.

In 2025, a decision was made in Kyrgyzstan to change the names of four rural districts and 13 villages.

Previously, in the Issyk-Ata district, residents proposed renaming the village Dmitrievka to Esirkemish, which caused a wide public resonance.
