Now the school year will end not on May 25, as previously planned, but on May 29.
According to the minister, the decision to extend the break for students from March 2 to March 7 was made in response to numerous requests regarding the insufficient length of the spring break.
Thus, an additional four days of rest are added. To adhere to the academic schedule, these additional days will be made up in May. As a result, the educational process will conclude on May 29.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education approved a new curriculum with a revised holiday schedule. According to this plan, this year students were supposed to have only one day off - March 6 (Friday), instead of the usual week. This decision caused dissatisfaction among parents, as after a challenging third quarter, children were left with only three days of rest, including weekends.
In May, students will be able to rest from May 1 to May 11, and then the school year will conclude two weeks later.
This imbalance in the holiday schedule was explained by the new Labor Code, which provides for long weekends in January and May for the citizens of Kyrgyzstan. Parents expressed their dissatisfaction regarding this distribution of academic workload.
