At the republican meeting on February 27, which was attended by President Sadyr Japarov, Edil Baisalov announced plans for Kyrgyzstan to purchase four supercomputers.

He noted that in the spring of 2021, the president supported the initiative of Academician Syrtbay Musaev to acquire a supercomputer for the development of artificial intelligence technologies in the country.

According to Baisalov, compared to the budget expenditures of that year, the amount allocated for the purchase was significant. As a result, one supercomputer was acquired, but plans for further purchases were delayed for three years, despite the allocated funds. However, in April, the delivery of four supercomputers is expected, while neighboring countries are acquiring them in large quantities, he added. These devices will be used in the fields of education and healthcare.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Starlink system was supposed to be implemented in Kyrgyzstan.

“Unfortunately, this has not been realized in four years, although in the fall the president signed the corresponding decision. This is undoubtedly a shame for us. Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan are already successfully using the system. This is a significant shortcoming on our part,” he stated.
