In the Issyk-Kul Center, in the city of Karakol, buildings erected over a century ago have been preserved, among which is an old pharmacy.

This pharmacy was founded 130 years ago and is located at: Lenin Street, 141 [Tynystanova]. The building was constructed between 1895 and 1897 by merchant Eriska as a residential space.

Since the collapse of the USSR, a medical point has been operating in this building, where border guards and military personnel received treatment.

In 1899, a pharmacy opened here, becoming the third in Kyrgyzstan; the first was established in Pishpek, and the second in Osh.

The pharmacy continues to operate today.

In 1894, the first elder of the city was elected — Nikolai Mikhailovich Barsov. Historical documents testify to his significant contribution to the development of the city, including the establishment of a dramatic circle and the construction of schools and libraries. In 1895, a park was opened in his honor, now known as the A. Pushkin Park.

Barsov, being a military doctor, attended the opening of the Przhevalsk City Public Library on May 14, 1902, which he initiated.

On March 19, 1908, the coat of arms of the city of Karakol was approved by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Russian Empire and served for some time as the coat of arms of the entire Issyk-Kul district.

In 1909, V.A. Ivanov became the district chief, and A.I. Belyaev became his assistant. E.S. Lokshakov was elected as the elder of the city. Local residents engaged in livestock breeding, agriculture, fishing, and beekeeping, producing 5,200 poods of honey in 1909 and developing trade.

In 1913, the first magazine "Przhevalsky Rural Host" was published. In 1918, 7 schools, a women's gymnasium, and 4 madrasahs opened in the city, as well as various associations. Przhevalsk became a base for Russian and foreign scholars engaged in the study of Asia.
