Queues for Spring: The Tulip Festival is held for the first time in Bishkek
With the arrival of spring, Bishkek has filled with bright colors and active trade. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with an agricultural company, organized the first Tulip Festival in the history of the capital, which is taking place in the square near Agroprom.

This event has become a pleasant surprise for the city's residents ahead of International Women's Day on March 8. The festival features 37 varieties of tulips, delivered from the Netherlands, known for its high-quality flower breeding.

"Flowers for the Holiday"

There is a buzz around the trading points. City dwellers are eagerly choosing from classic red, delicate pink, white, yellow, and bi-colored tulips. Many came here after hearing about the sale.

- "It's convenient and profitable," say the buyers. "You can buy beautiful flowers at an affordable price and delight your mom, wife, or sister."

Some prefer to stock up on bouquets in advance, as there are only a few days left until International Women's Day.

A representative from the "Meerim" company shares tips on caring for tulips: simply wrap them in damp paper and store them in a cool place. Each buyer can receive detailed care recommendations to ensure the flowers last longer.

More than Just Bouquets

At the festival, it is also possible to purchase tulip bulbs, which are planted in the fall and bloom in the spring.

The organizers note that interest in planting material is shown not only by homeowners but also by residents of new buildings eager to green their yards and flowerbeds.

New Horizons for Farmers

The festival has become the first event of its kind for the capital, and the fair coordinator from the Ministry of Agriculture, Iskak Anvarbekov, emphasizes that such events facilitate direct interaction between producers and consumers, reducing costs and making products more accessible.

Experts believe that the floral sector could become promising for farmers. This year, bulbs that were grown locally were brought in, and there is hope that with government support and investments in greenhouse complexes, tulip production can expand.

If the festival proves successful, it may become an annual event, turning into a symbol of spring in Bishkek. It would also be interesting to create a photo zone to capture unique shades for memories.

Judging by the queues and the smiles of the city's residents, the first experience of holding a "tulip" festival can be considered successful.

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with "Tulpanland," presented this vibrant festival as a tourist project and are awaiting feedback from visitors.

The festival runs from March 2 to March 10, offering tulips both wholesale and retail.

The main goal of this event is to support local producers, increase the share of domestic products in the internal market, and provide the population with quality and environmentally friendly flowers.

Additionally, the festival aims to develop the floral industry, promote new varieties, and attract investments in this sector. Within the framework of the festival, consultations with specialists and experience exchange in flower cultivation are also planned.
