Mirlan Dyldaev, the rector of Bishkek State University named after Academician K. Karasaev, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He noted that the preservation of the snow leopard is an important task for Kyrgyzstan, as this animal symbolizes the unique natural heritage of the country.
Dyldaev emphasized that the protection of biodiversity requires joint efforts from the state, the scientific community, and citizens. In this context, ecological initiatives can serve as an important platform for the development of environmental education and the promotion of ecological values among the youth audience.
Members of the Jogorku Kenesh, representatives of various state and international organizations were also present at the presentation. Among them were Dinara Kemelova, the special representative of the president on mountain issues, and the renowned climber Eduard Kubatov.
As part of the event, the concept of the international ecological festival "Snow Leopard EcoFest Chon-Kemin - 2026" was presented, which is scheduled for July 11 in the Chon-Kemin Valley.
Taalaybek Mambetaliyev, the director of the public fund "Ilbirs - Green Generation," noted that the snow leopard plays an important role for Kyrgyzstan. In December 2023, the president signed a decree declaring this rare animal as the national symbol of the republic.
According to Mambetaliyev, the image of the snow leopard unites many ecological themes, including the protection of glaciers, water resources, as well as the development of environmental education and ecotourism.
It was noted that the snow leopard is a source of pride for the country, as its population spans all regions of Kyrgyzstan.
The "Snow Leopard EcoFest Chon-Kemin - 2026" will take place as part of the initiative "We are the Green Generation" with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Almaz Musaev, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, stated that the festival will serve as a platform for uniting the efforts of the state, business, and civil society in environmental protection and sustainable tourism.
The organizers emphasized that the choice of the Chon-Kemin Valley for this event is not accidental. This area is considered one of the unique natural zones of the country, where it is critically important to maintain a balance between tourism development and the protection of mountain ecosystems.
The festival program includes lectures, workshops, interactive activities for the whole family, ethnocultural performances, as well as an eco-fair featuring natural products from local producers. The festival will conclude with a gala concert featuring well-known artists.
The organizers are confident that the "Snow Leopard EcoFest" will not only become an ecological platform but also a significant public event that contributes to the formation of a new generation focused on nature conservation and sustainable development.
Everyone interested can become partners of the festival, as well as share their ideas or perform at the event. Guests are also advised to reserve their spots in advance if they plan to actively participate in the festival with family or friends.
