Irina Karamushkina, the former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, has appealed to President Sadyr Japarov for clemency. This information was communicated to journalists by Karamushkina's lawyer, Askar Alymkulov.

According to the lawyer, the petition was submitted in December 2025 through the administration of the correctional facility where Karamushkina is currently located, situated in the village of Stepnoye.

In her appeal, she states that the courts did not take into account witness testimonies when delivering the verdict, and she also claims that the house subject to confiscation was purchased with legal funds. Additionally, Karamushkina refers to her age, her family, and her elderly mother, requesting early release.

It is worth noting that the Bishkek City Court increased Karamushkina's prison sentence to eight years in connection with the events in Koi-Tash.

The judicial proceedings in this case have been ongoing since 2022 and include episodes related to the Bishkek CHPP, the Dastan plant, and land plots. The names of former Interior Minister Abdylly Suranchiev and former Energy Minister Askarbek Shadiyev are mentioned in these episodes. A total of 20 defendants are involved in the case, 12 of whom are connected to the events in Koi-Tash.

Former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev was released by the court for medical treatment in February 2023 and has since been in Spain, not returning to his homeland.

On August 7, 2019, the special forces of the GKNB attempted to seize Atambayev's residence in Koi-Tash. The next day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the GKNB conducted a joint operation to detain him. As a result of the clashes, which lasted two days, 136 people were injured, and one of the special forces officers was killed by gunfire.

Several criminal cases have been initiated against Atambayev, including cases related to the riots in Koi-Tash on August 7-8, 2019, corruption, and money laundering. He was also charged with the illegal issuance of passports to Turkish citizens and organizing mass riots in October 2020, but he was acquitted.
