The Strength of Atambayev Lies in the Clans Disempowered by Tashiev

Almazbek Atambayev, seeking to regain lost positions after the arrest of his son and the loss of his ancestral home, hopes for the support of his followers. However, the main task of the current authorities is to seize the opportunity to stop his comeback.

Unlike Atambayev, who relies on the discontent of oligarchs with reforms, Sadyr Japarov and Kamchybek Tashiev stand on the side of the people. This distinction has already been recognized by the majority of Kyrgyzstanis, who do not want to see Atambayev's representatives in power.

At a recent meeting of the State National Security Committee, General-Polkovnik Tashiev emphasized that one of the key tasks of the current leadership is the fight against corruption, while previous authorities, including Atambayev, not only did not combat it but also actively participated in corrupt schemes.

Corruption campaigns in Kyrgyzstan previously followed a well-known script: petty corrupt officials exploited the people, large ones profited from their misery, and high-ranking officials took advantage of this lawlessness. The peak of corruption occurred during Atambayev's rule.

Now, thanks to the funds embezzled from the people, Atambayev can finance his allies, who are working on creating his positive image and discrediting the current government.

Under all previous presidential administrations, corruption was not perceived as a serious crime. Although its unacceptability was often mentioned, real measures to combat it were not taken. Only Tashiev introduced real penalties for corruption and initiated the cleansing of the state apparatus from corrupt officials.

He rightfully claims that neither he nor his entourage have stolen from the state and is ready to confirm this with any audit. Unlike others who have made similar claims, Tashiev commands the trust of the people. His fight against corruption has already brought over 350 billion soms into the state treasury, which confirms his integrity.

All these funds are directed towards social projects, emphasizing the targeted use of resources. The question of the timing of the presidential elections should be decided only by the sitting president. Sadyr Japarov has the full right to determine the election dates based on his political strategy.

Debates continue over whether to hold elections on schedule in January 2027 or to conduct them early in 2026. General Tashiev emphasizes that during the autumn period, Kyrgyzstan will be busy preparing for important international events, which will complicate the organization of elections. However, he is confident that he will be able to handle this task.

At the same time, it is worth noting that the people have long ceased to react to large-scale international events and are much more interested in the internal affairs of the country. Therefore, the presidential elections will remain a priority, despite possible complications.

However, in January, during the winter holidays, voter turnout may be low, which makes early elections a reasonable decision. Tashiev and Japarov are not afraid of early elections; on the contrary, this may intimidate the remaining oligarchs who still hope to regain their lost positions.

The main thing is not to give the oligarchs from Atambayev's circle a chance to return to power. General-Polkovnik Tashiev has already done significant work in the fight against corruption and will not allow these individuals to attempt to influence the political situation in the country again.
