After the closure of one of the largest livestock markets in Tokmok, located in the Chui region, residents of the villages of Vinogradnaya and Chym-Korgon began actively considering the possibility of organizing a new market on their territory.

According to the latest data, construction of a new livestock market has begun in the village of Chym-Korgon, which is located in the Kemin district, on a plot of land measuring 11 hectares.

Previously, Turmush reported on an unplanned livestock market in the village of Vinogradnoye in the Chui district, where construction work is also underway, including the laying of gravel and landscaping of the area.

As noted by Almazbek Dubanaev, the head of the Chym-Korgon rural administration, out of the allocated 11 hectares, 5 will be designated specifically for the livestock market, while the remaining 6 hectares will accommodate a cafeteria, shops, facilities for the sale of construction materials, and other needs.

“The construction of the new livestock market has begun, and it is being financed from the district development fund. Local youth are also actively participating in the work,” he added.

Residents of Chym-Korgon note that both markets are being created as temporary facilities as part of a pilot project.

“There is an opinion that the market, which will be more convenient for the population, will operate on a permanent basis, while the other, less attractive one, will be closed. Therefore, residents of both districts are trying to make their market as appealing as possible,” the message emphasizes.

In December 2025, Turmush reported that the livestock market in Tokmok will be relocated to a new area, and modern multifunctional facilities are planned to be built on its former site, as announced by the city's mayor, Altynbek Ergeshov, during a meeting with traders.

The Tokmok livestock market is considered one of the largest in northern Kyrgyzstan, serving as a key location for livestock trade in the Chui region, where various animals, including cows, sheep, horses, and bulls, can be purchased.

According to the mayor, the existing market does not meet modern sanitary and veterinary requirements and standards for urban development. Its proximity to highways and residential areas poses risks to the safety and comfort of local residents.

In this regard, it was decided to move the market to a safer location, situated not far from the current site, but away from roads and residential buildings. This should ensure convenience for both sellers and buyers.

The mayor also noted that the area of the current market has great potential for further development of the city. In the future, there are plans to attract investors, including international ones, to implement various projects on this site.

The project includes the construction of multifunctional buildings and the creation of a business space focused on technology, entrepreneurship, and creative industries.

According to local authorities, the new livestock market will have the necessary conditions created by the city administration: modern infrastructure, compliance with sanitary and veterinary norms, as well as ensuring safety and comfort for traders and visitors.

It should be noted that representatives of the Chui District State Administration reported plans to build a new livestock market in the eastern part of the village of Vinogradnoye in the Chui district. However, exact data on the area of the plot and the start dates for construction have not yet been provided, as the project is still in the planning stage. Complete information will be published after all necessary documents are finalized.

Traders involved in livestock sales note that the Tokmok market had one important advantage. “If the new market is located near the road and meets all standards, we will be able to adapt to the new location. However, the Tokmok market was convenient because there were food and spontaneous markets nearby, where you could shop at the same time,” the traders shared their opinions.

Turmush previously reported that a decision was made to close the private livestock market in Tokmok starting January 1, 2026. During inspections by regulatory authorities, it was found that the market was operating on a commercial basis, charging fees for the placement and sale of agricultural animals.

At the same time, the market owners did not provide the necessary investments for the development and maintenance of infrastructure, including engineering, sanitary, and veterinary systems.

The closure was due to systematic violations of veterinary-sanitary and environmental norms, as well as non-compliance with safety and infrastructure requirements.

Despite repeated orders and warnings, the market owners did not take measures to rectify the violations and modernize the facilities.

The trade in agricultural animals in this area is being discontinued. During the suspension of operations, farmers and buyers are advised to turn to other functioning livestock markets in the region, as well as to utilize remote sales opportunities through online platforms and messengers. The sale of livestock will be organized at specialized sites that meet established requirements.
