In Kyrgyzstan, there is a crisis in the institution of the family, and instead of changing the alimony system, it is necessary to focus on strengthening family relationships, said Deputy Kamila Talieva (District No. 1) during a meeting of the Budget Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 19.

She emphasized that 60,000 alimony protocols represent a serious tragedy.

“Regarding alimony, Dastan Dalabayevich [Deputy Dastan Bekeshev], you made a very harsh statement, but you could have expressed your thought more simply: what is the child guilty of? This could become a meme. Indeed, the child is not to blame here, and we cannot destroy their future. First and foremost, attention should be directed to the family. The institution of the family is broken; we talk about the alimony system being outdated, but in reality, it is the institution of the family that needs restoration. The statistic of 60,000 is a real tragedy,” she noted.

Kamila Talieva added that more attention needs to be paid to the institution of the family. As part of the work of the 7th convocation of parliament, amendments were made to tighten responsibility for alimony non-payers. However, despite this, it has not led to a significant increase in the number of those fulfilling their alimony obligations, the deputy explained.
