The law on the ratification of the protocol regarding the checkpoints between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan has been approved by the deputies of the Mazhilis. According to this document, the automobile checkpoint 'Kegen - Karkyra' will switch to a 24-hour operating mode. This is reported by Kazakhstani media.
After the voting in the Mazhilis is completed, the bill will be forwarded to the Senate for further consideration.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbaev noted that the transition to a 24-hour operating mode will increase capacity, make travel more convenient for citizens, and have a positive impact on the development of tourism.
According to the ministry's data, in 2025, 179,000 people and about 43,000 vehicles crossed the border at the 'Kegen - Karkyra' checkpoint.
