In Kazakhstan, the possibility of introducing criminal liability for the leakage of personal data is being considered. This was reported by Rostislav Konyashkin, the First Deputy Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, as Tengrinews.kz conveys.

At a government meeting, Konyashkin emphasized that such a measure is necessary to ensure the protection of citizens' personal data.

“We are obliged to implement the constitutional rights of citizens to protect their private lives and personal data, and in this context, we are moving towards a policy of 'zero tolerance' for any leaks of digital information. In this regard, we plan to significantly increase the amount of administrative fines for violations of security requirements – up to 5,000 monthly calculation indicators, which amounts to 21.6 million tenge,” Konyashkin noted.

According to him, digital transformation should not threaten the safety of citizens, and any case of careless handling of personal information must be strictly punished in accordance with the law.
