At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development, held on January 26, the head of the State Antimonopoly Agency, Zhenaly Orozbaev, announced plans to introduce price control over educational contracts at universities. He noted that this regulation was abolished in 2016.

According to Orozbaev, the situation requires intervention, as tuition fees have doubled over the past year. For example, in those educational institutions where the cost of the contract was 50,000 soms, tuition now costs 100,000 to 120,000 soms. As a result of the analysis conducted and the verification of the cost structure of services, the agency issued a directive to the Kyrgyz National University to return 23 million soms that were unlawfully obtained, and to the Academy of Public Administration under the President, 13 million soms.
