At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, deputy Ilimbek Kubanychbekov noted that the same medication can cost differently in ten different pharmacies. He called on the State Antimonopoly Agency to take responsibility for regulating drug prices.

The deputy emphasized the need to establish a unified price for medications, as they are imported at the same cost and are exempt from taxes.

The director of the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation, Zhenaly Orozbaev, reported that there is a special list of essential medications. In case of complaints about price increases, the Antimonopoly Agency, together with the Department of Medicines, conducts necessary inspections and raids.

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Benazir Nurlanova, added that prices are regulated based on an order from the Ministry of Economy, and in case of exceeding the established norms, the Antimonopoly Service has the right to intervene in the situation.
