State Secretary Arslan Koichiev expressed his views on combating wastefulness during the "Elden Sobol" program on the "Kabar" channel. He believes that simple prohibitions and administrative measures will not yield the desired results in this area.
Koichiev noted that the very discussion of measures to reduce wastefulness is a positive step. He emphasized the need to involve the public in this discussion, adding that philosophers, ethnographers, and sociologists should actively participate in shaping the new cultural identity of the Kyrgyz people.
In particular, he mentioned the proposal to limit the number of guests at weddings to 200 people, stressing that young people make up a significant portion of the country's population and are its future. "I am concerned that such restrictions may provoke a negative reaction among the youth. Our goal is to support them so as not to create financial pressure. Perhaps a more cultural approach to organizing weddings will yield better results," Koichiev explained.
Additionally, he discussed the traditions of livestock slaughter. In his opinion, some countries in Europe and Asia do not have strict restrictions on holding celebrations and memorial events. "We usually serve meat on large trays, which often remains uneaten, and this indicates excess. It is necessary to organize this process. The tradition of serving ustukans is an ancient custom that resembles the Japanese tea ceremony," added the State Secretary.
