A group of scientists monitoring how close the world is to disaster has set the clock at 85 seconds to midnight, which is four seconds different from last year, when the time was set at 89 seconds to midnight.
The reasons for this change, the scientists cited "aggressive behavior" of nuclear powers, including Russia, China, and the USA. The situation has also been influenced by issues related to nuclear weapons control, conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as concerns about the development of artificial intelligence.
The Doomsday Clock was created in 1947 by a Chicago-based non-profit organization during the Cold War to inform the public about the risks threatening humanity.
