Corruption. In South Korea, the former first lady was sentenced to 20 months in prison
According to reports from YTN, former first lady of South Korea, Kim Gon-hee, has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for corruption.

The first-instance court found her guilty of violating anti-corruption laws, as she accepted expensive gifts, including two handbags and a necklace worth 80 million won. These gifts were received from the "Unification Church" through shaman Jeong Seong-bae. The judge also ordered the confiscation of the necklace.

Additionally, she was fined 12.8 million won.

On January 16, the court found her husband, former president Yoon Suk-yeol, guilty of obstructing arrest and sentenced him to five years in prison.

It is worth noting that the "Unification Church" was at the center of a scandal last year when it was revealed that it was involved in political intrigues and had suspicious connections with both the opposition and the ruling party.
