According to information from the Yonhap agency, the prosecution made this demand during the final hearing in the Seoul court. Special prosecutors described Yoon Suk Yeol as the main instigator of the rebellion, who sought to maintain power by controlling the judiciary and legislative bodies.

He is charged with conspiracy with the former defense minister and other participants to organize a rebellion aimed at undermining the Constitution.

In addition, the prosecution accuses the former president of using troops and police to block the work of the National Assembly, as well as arresting and detaining several politicians, including the speaker of parliament. According to the prosecutors, such actions were intended by Yoon Suk Yeol to prevent lawmakers from voting to repeal the decree on the imposition of martial law.

On December 3, 2024, late in the evening, Yoon Suk Yeol announced the introduction of "emergency martial law," arguing that it was necessary to protect the Republic of Korea from the threat of "North Korean communist forces." Just 150 minutes later, the parliament voted for the immediate repeal of martial law.

On December 14, lawmakers supported the impeachment procedure against Yoon Suk Yeol, which led to his official removal from power, arrest, and subsequent legal proceedings.
