During the meeting, a draft law concerning the ratification of an agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on the mutual provision of buildings and land plots for the needs of embassies in Bishkek and Astana was presented.
Imangaziyev noted that this agreement was signed in 2005, but it only included two properties:
- The Kyrgyz side transferred cottage No. 17 with a total area of 531.66 square meters and a land plot of 0.17 hectares for 49 years for gratuitous use at the address: residential complex "Ala-Archa";
- The Kazakh side, in turn, provided cottage No. B-5 with an area of 555.9 square meters and a land plot of 0.247 hectares for the same period, located in the diplomatic town of Astana.
The updated agreement is planned to include one more property, which has already been transferred by the Kyrgyz side. This site currently houses the building of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, which continues its operations. The address specified in the previous agreement is now used as the residence of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan.
Furthermore, the new agreement will include two more properties that have been transferred by the Kazakh side:
- A land plot of 0.7412 hectares in Astana, where the new building of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan will be constructed;
- A building in Astana, with an area of 1267.8 square meters and a land plot of 0.125 hectares. Currently, the embassy is temporarily located here, but after the completion of the new building, it will become the residence of the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan.
It should be noted that cottage No. B-5, mentioned in the 2005 agreement, will be demolished, as neighboring foreign diplomatic missions have already moved to other areas of the city.
The people's deputies unanimously approved the draft law on the ratification of the agreement in three readings.
