During the plenary session in the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Nurlanbek Azygaliev raised the issue of the cost of housing being built under the GIK program.

The answer to his question was provided by Nurlan Kudaykulov, Deputy Head of the State Mortgage Company, who reported that in Bishkek, the cost per square meter is 59,140 soms, while in the regions it is 64,800 soms.

Azygaliev also inquired about the prices at which apartments are sold. Kudaykulov responded that the price of GIK housing ranges from $900 to $1,400 per square meter, to which the deputy noted that this is too high a price.

A company representative clarified: “GIK needs to make a profit in order to be able to implement new projects.”

The response to this was given by the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Daniyar Amangeldiev, who noted that the tariffs of the State Mortgage Company are under control, and there is a corresponding calculation. “There are various preferential and commercial tariffs, so we have to balance by covering the preferential tariffs with the commercial ones. On average, apartments are sold for $900, and they are offered with repairs,” added Amangeldiev.

The deputy summarized: “When creating GIK, we did not aim to make a profit, but sought to provide affordable housing for those in need.”
