Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev spoke out against the division of deputies based on regional or any other criteria. He emphasized the importance of unity in parliament.
According to him, this position was also voiced by the president, who called for consolidation and objectivity in the work of the legislative body. Mamataliyev noted that after his appointment as speaker, he instructed the parliament's apparatus to ensure equal treatment of all deputies.
“There should be no division in our parliament — neither by regional criteria nor by the principle of 'us vs. them.' All 90 deputies make up one team,” the speaker stated.
He emphasized that professionalism should play a leading role in the distribution of responsibilities and appointments, rather than affiliation with any region or political group.
“If a person demonstrates high efficiency in their field, we must focus solely on their professional qualities,” added Marlen Mamataliyev.
The speaker also noted that during the meeting, deputies expressed calls for unity and cohesion. In his opinion, the Kyrgyz people have always valued consensus, and it is this, combined with joint efforts, that will help parliament contribute to the development of the country.
