The mayor of Osh proposed to name a street in honor of Bayaman Erkinbaev

The possibility of naming one of the streets in Osh in honor of Bayaman Erkinbaev, a former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, is being discussed at the level of the city administration. The initiative was proposed by Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev during his recent trip around the city. He noted that the issue of commemorating Erkinbaev will be considered according to established procedures, and there is also a possibility of installing a monument.

Bayaman Erkinbaev, who served as a parliament deputy three times in 1995, 2000, and 2005, was actively involved in public life. He was one of the founders of the international wrestling federation "Alysh" and headed the charitable foundation "Palvan." His name became known due to the events of March 2005, when his supporters, including students from his sports schools, actively participated in protest actions in the southern regions and in Bishkek.

Tragically, in September 2005, Bayaman Erkinbaev was killed in the capital. This incident caused a wide resonance, and various versions of the reasons for his murder ranged from criminal motives to those related to business and politics.

It is worth noting that in February 2025, the head of the State National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, reported the return of 12.5 hectares of land in the Tajik town of Proletarsk. This land previously belonged to the Kyrgyz organization "Selkhozkhimia," was then transferred to Bayaman Erkinbaev, and subsequently sold. As a result of legal proceedings, the plot was returned to the ownership of Kyrgyzstan.
