Today, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev expressed concern that young people are losing the opportunity to receive education due to rising prices for contracts at universities.

He noted that many educational institutions have significantly increased tuition fees, making it unaffordable for many young people.

“Universities are finding various ways to profit at the expense of students. We have just eliminated the practice of charging for absences, but students are still being asked to pay for credits. I wonder on what legal grounds universities establish such rules? We need to thoroughly investigate this situation,” Bekeshev added.

It is worth noting that earlier, the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of Kyrgyzstan recommended that educational institutions, regardless of their form of ownership, cease the practice of imposing fines on students for missing classes and internships.

According to the ministry, this recommendation is aimed at protecting students' rights and creating fair and uniform approaches to academic discipline, as well as preventing unjustified financial penalties in the educational sector.
