At a briefing in Bishkek on February 13, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Azamat Mambetov reported that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan experienced 3,757 fires, claiming the lives of 53 people.

The total material damage from these incidents amounted to 2 billion 71 million soms. Compared to 2024, the number of fires increased by 19%, the number of victims rose by 17%, and financial losses grew by 2.5 times.

Throughout 2025, 14 major emergencies were registered across the country, resulting in the deaths of 32 people, with damages amounting to 60 million soms. A total of 4,424 emergencies were recorded, which is a 16% increase compared to the previous year. The material damage from these incidents reached 2 billion 30 million soms, which is double last year's figures. Fires accounted for the majority of this damage.

According to Mambetov, the increase in the number of incidents is due to several factors. Firstly, there is mass urbanization—people are building homes in high-risk areas where construction is not recommended. Secondly, with the growth of the economy and industry, material losses from fires are increasing. In 2025, the largest fires occurred in markets, significantly raising the overall damage, noted the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations.

Overall, 2025 was a challenging year in terms of emergencies. Despite fewer mudslides due to drought compared to the previous year, the total number of incidents increased significantly, he added.
