Incident Events
Names have been changed at the request of relatives to protect the minor child.A woman who contacted the editorial office of Kaktus.media reported that on February 14, a conflict occurred in Kochkor-Ata between her niece Zuhra and her common-law husband Tahir, which arose due to their daughter. After Tahir hit the girl several times, Zuhra called her younger brother Ismail to take them away.
However, Tahir did not calm down and followed them. At Ismail's house, he attacked his nephew, stabbing him several times and biting off part of his ear. He also threatened the nephew's parents, shouting: "I will kill, I will kill you all," the woman recounted.
According to her, Zuhra's daughter is currently 14 years old. Their life together with Tahir began about ten years ago, and he started systematically applying violence against his common-law wife and her daughter about five or six years ago.The woman also noted that Zuhra had tried to leave Tahir several times but always returned. This time, despite the incident, she left again when Tahir's parents came to pick her up. She is currently out of contact, and her mother is worried as her daughter is not answering calls and messages, only sending texts with apologies and promises to change the situation.
According to the woman, after experiencing the trauma, the girl stopped speaking, became fearful, and cried. They were visited by educators and social workers, but there was no child psychologist available in the area.
“We were not informed about the progress of the case until we contacted the police. The investigator said he had submitted a petition for a two-month detention, but the court rejected it. When we filed an appeal, we had only one day left to do so. The hospital did not provide us with a medical history, only a discharge summary. The victim was in intensive care and lost consciousness upon arrival. The doctors said that his condition was life-threatening. Part of his ear is missing; this is a clear and irreversible facial injury. Despite this, the forensic examination classified the harm as moderate,” she emphasized, calling on law enforcement to reconsider the charges and for the judicial authorities to decide on Tahir's arrest.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 280 "Hooliganism" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Expert examinations have been appointed, Tahir was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The court ruled to impose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest, the Internal Affairs Department reported.
