Bishkek City Court upheld the first instance decision in the "Kempir-Abad" case — acquitted the defendants

On March 27, the Bishkek City Court confirmed the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court in the case of the "Kempir-Abad" defendants, reported lawyer Erkin Sadanbekov, representing the interests of Marat Bayazov.

Previously, on June 14, the Pervomaisky District Court announced its decision in a case where the defendants included activists, politicians, bloggers, and journalists who protested against the transfer of the Kempir-Abad reservoir to Uzbekistan. The prosecution sought to find 27 individuals guilty under Articles 36-278 (preparation for mass riots) and 36-326 (preparation for violent seizure of power) of the Criminal Code, sentencing them to 20 years of imprisonment.

Judge Marat Sydykov issued a verdict of acquittal for the following individuals:

- Perizatkan Suranova;

- Asiya Sasykbaeva;

- Klara Sooronkulova;

- Mambetjunus Abylov;

- Gulnara Dzhurabaeva;

- Talaybek Madaminov;

- Ulugbek Mamataev;

- Chyngyz Kaparov;

- Atai Beyshenbek uulu;

- Rita Karasartova;

- Azimbek Beknazarov;

- Ravshan Zheenbekov;

- Ali Shabdan;

- Zhenishbek Moldokulov;

- Aibek Buzurmankulov;

- Aidanbek Akmatov;

- Marat Bayazov;

- Timur Makhmudov;

- Bekchoro uulu Erlan;

- Akila Aitbaeva;

- Ilgiza Shamenova;

- Nurlan Asanbekov.

As for the other defendants, their cases were separated into individual proceedings:

- Keneshbek Duyshbaev;

- Orozayim Narmataova;

- Kubanychbek Kadyrov;

- Talantbek Eshaliev;

- Bektur Asanov.

At the time the verdict came into force, all defendants were under house arrest.
