The Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported the death of one of its citizens in Malta, in the area of St. George's Bay. After receiving this sad news, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Italy immediately began the process of repatriating the body to the homeland.
Diplomats established contact with the local authorities in Malta and also enlisted the help of compatriots in the country to expedite the completion of all necessary procedures. The embassy is actively working on the documentation, coordinating the actions of all involved services, and maintaining constant contact with the relatives of the deceased.
According to information from the publication timesofmalta, a 48-year-old woman from Kyrgyzstan lost consciousness in the sea at St. George's Bay. A 23-year-old compatriot was nearby and was hospitalized.
The incident occurred around 12:40, according to the police. Several passersby provided assistance to the Kyrgyz women, pulling them from the water and administering first aid. Later, medical personnel and civil protection service staff arrived at the scene and transported the victims to the hospital.
Unfortunately, the 48-year-old woman later passed away, while her companion is in stable condition.
