In recent days, there has been an increase in the activity of Mount Etna in Italy, which has erupted lava up to 400 meters high.

According to the publication Virgilio, thick clouds of smoke and ash have risen into the air, leading to the declaration of a yellow alert level by the civil protection department. This decision was made in response to the increasing frequency of volcanic tremors and strombolian-type activity.

The yellow alert level was introduced due to frequent eruptions of hot stones and ash rising hundreds of meters above the crater. Specialists do not rule out the possibility of further increases in the volcano's activity.

Residents living near Etna are advised to closely monitor updates from the civil protection department and strictly follow the instructions of local authorities.

Etna is the largest active volcano in Italy and one of the most active in the world, with a history of activity spanning about 500,000 years. During this time, at least 2,700 eruptions have been recorded. Since 2013, the volcano has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
