The Italian island of Sicily has experienced a resurgence of activity from Mount Etna, leading to the fall of volcanic ash in several populated areas.

According to local sources, significant volcanic activity was observed throughout the day. At the peak moment, lava was seen fountaining from the volcano's crater to a height of 300-400 meters. The ash column rose several kilometers and was shifted by the wind first to the west and then to the southwest.

In response, the local civil defense department declared a "yellow" level of danger.
