Suspect Detained in Case of Salary Non-Payment at Small Hydropower Plant Construction

A criminal case regarding the non-payment of wages to workers who were involved in the construction of a small hydroelectric power station has been opened in the Chui region. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to law enforcement agencies, on December 26, 2025, a resident born in 1989 filed a collective complaint at the internal affairs department of the Moscow district. He stated that a citizen born in 1993 had been attracting workers since 2024 to perform concrete work on the construction of the hydroelectric power station in the Ak-Suu gorge. Despite an established salary of 50,000 to 60,000 soms per month, payments for December 2025 were not made.

According to the investigation materials, approximately 7,200 cubic meters of concrete work were completed during the specified period. The total amount received from the client was over 43.4 million soms, of which more than 3.1 million soms was paid in taxes.

In connection with these circumstances, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic "Fraud." The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
