Alisher Ismailov, a resident of Karakol in the Issyk-Kul region, is engaged in making bride chests despite his physical limitations.

He was born on August 18, 1982, in Karakol, where after completing his schooling, he trained as a car mechanic. However, due to health issues, he was unable to continue working in this field and was assigned a disability group 2.

“I learned about the social contract program, applied for it, and received 100,000 soms, which I spent on purchasing the necessary tools and materials,” Alisher shared.

His older sister, who creates dowries for brides, inspired him to make chests. “I researched online how to make them. If you focus, you can make a chest in just two hours. First, I make the wooden parts, and then I work on the exterior finishing using fabric, beads, and threads. The colors of the sets depend on the main shades in the bride's dowry,” he explained.

The cost of one chest is 1,800 soms.

Alisher noted that many clients are interested in the possibility of renting chests, which costs 300 soms. However, returned chests often require repairs, adding to his workload.

Initially, he dreamed of starting his own business but faced a lack of startup capital.

In addition to chests, in his free time, Alisher also creates honey barrels on a special machine. One such barrel costs 4,500 soms.

Moreover, he is involved in restoring old chests. “I often receive requests to restore them,” he added.
