President Sadyr Japarov has ordered the reconstruction of the Sports Palace named after Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul in Bishkek. This information was announced at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee on science, education, and culture, as reported by the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazibek Moldazhiyev.
Deputy Bolot Sagynayev noted that sports facilities in the country are actively being updated and new ones are being built, which indicates the development of the sports sector.
“Despite the fact that the Sports Palace is located in the center of the capital, its condition leaves much to be desired. This building houses the only Olympic swimming pool, so it would be reasonable for the Palace to self-finance, and for the swimming pool, football field, and sauna to be updated,” the deputy added.
Kazibek Moldazhiyev also reported that the president instructed to carry out repairs in the Sports Palace during the opening of the new sports complex "Zhashtyk Arena".
“After the opening, the president gave instructions on the need for repairs and reconstruction of the Palace so that it harmoniously fits with the 'Zhashtyk Arena'. The status of the Palace will remain the same. The head of state instructed Mayor Aibek Junushaliev to find funding for this project. We are currently actively cooperating with the mayor's office to include this facility in the plan for the current year, and we hope that work will begin soon,” he concluded.
